What Are We?

We are a family. That's the core of everything we do. It's the reason that our students have such a tight bond. Families don't hide things from each other and so we strive to do the same. It's why our academy is so welcoming.

So what are we? We are Family.

At Our Core

The problem with most academies is that they try to be "inclusive" and "diverse," which really means treating everyone "equally" and pretending everyone is the same. The fact is no one is the same. God created all of us differently, some with disabilities. We are diverse because none of us are the same, not because of skin color, race, or ability. We're diverse in our personality.

At the core, the reason we're such a tight-nit family is because of Jesus Christ, the light of the world. At our core, we're sinners who want to do what everyone else is doing, separating people into races and groups based on skill, appearance, and skin color. We look on the outward appearance, but God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit look at the heart. Where we see broken, He sees healing. And only because we are His children can we love others the way He does. It's only because of Him that this academy can thrive and bring Him glory.

So you can call us "Religious Freaks," but that's the reason we can focus on relationship instead of inclusion, others instead of ourselves, and ultimately it's why we have a reason to live.

Our Goal

We live by one verse that can sum up everything we do as an academy: Ephesians 5:8 "For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light. Walk as children of light." We were once darkness, led by our own selfishness, each of us just trying to please ourselves, even though outwardly we might have looked like we were serving others. The truth is that even though our actions showed us as kind and loving, our hearts weren't in it until we received the love of God. From then on, our hearts were on fire. We have a passion for loving and serving that can never be extinguished. And so our goal is to spread that fire and the gift that came with it.

So, Why Are We Here?

We're here because the world needs us. In a perfect world, there wouldn't be abandonment, orphans, widows, people in need of food and water; people who loose their homes and families. In a perfect world, we wouldn't be needed, but here in this broken world, people need help. Single parents who work full time to try to just survive can't pay for their children's education. They try sending them to public school only to find out that they're bullied for their disabilities and they're failing. Grandparents want to give their son a good education but can't afford more than a low grade semi-public-school where things aren't much better. And on top of that, people all over the US can't even get enough food to live, and no one will help them.

That's why we're here, to give children a home and an education, even when money is tough to come by. To feed the hungry and give to the poor, to go out of our way to help the community, and most of all, to spread a warmth and a light to those who are in darkness. So we might be religious freaks, but we're freaks for the world!
