Kyle always knew his past held mysteries, but when he gets a necklace for his birthday, he realizes that his past might hold an even more sinister secret. What really happened the day his parents died? What is his adoptive mom hiding? What does the necklace have to do with a strange note he found? And how is he supposed to trust anyone when no one is as they seem? But most of all, how can he figure out the mystery of his past… before it’s too late?

Description: Hazel eyes, dark-brown hair, brown-tinted skin.
Character: Kyle is an energetic boy who sometimes acts before he thinks. He is bold, but also nervous in groups. He is also extremely observant. If there were one word to describe him, it would be determined.
Fact file: Kyle lost his family in a storm on the ocean, and was adopted by Mrs. Sanders. If you were to ask him what the most exciting thing that happened to him was, he would say, “I guess it was when my mom took me on one of her trips and I met the dolphins she was working with.”

Name: Ocean Sierra Lee

Age: 12
Description: Blue eyes, long dirty blond hair, light skin.
Abilities: Excellent swimmer, good at anything creative. She used to be on a swim team where she was the fastest swimmer, despite a prosthetic leg.
Character: Ocean is a shy girl who loves the ocean and everything in it, but is so terrified of it, that she tried to run away instead of going on a cruise ship. She also loves adventure and is mostly quiet. If there were one word to describe her, it would be passionate.
Fact file: Ocean Sierra Lee was born with only one leg. When she was two, she got a prosthetic to learn how to walk. When she turned five, she got a waterproof leg so she could learn how to swim. When she was seven, she joined a swim team and turned out to be the fastest swimmer. When she lost her mother, she got rid of all of her prosthetics and refused to get a new one. However, a year later, she gave in and got a normal prosthetic that wasn’t waterproof.

Description: Blue eyes, dark, blonde hair, light skin, tall.
Abilities: Writing, baking, coordinating. She’s published a few books on cooking, needle art, and grieving.
Character: Mrs. Sanders is a lonely woman who loves to write, but loves her daughter, Cora, more. She is excitable, but caring, and always ready to give help. If there were one word to describe her, it would be adventurous.
Fact File: Fiona used to teach cryptology at the academy, however, after her friend’s death, she disappeared.
Parents: Melody Shay and Eric Shay

Name: Quin Rose Swift

Age: 16
Description: Blue eyes, chestnut hair, darkish skin, tall.
Abilities: athletics, coordination, observation. She’s one of the best agents at the Crystal, which may be because she was one of the first.
Character: Quin is an energetic and slightly impulsive girl who loves adventure, which might be because she’s a field agent at the Crystal. She also loves her parents, and maybe even more, she loves helping others. If there was one word to describe her, it would be helpful.
Fact file: Quin grew up her entire life in the Academy. When she was three months old, she posed as a baby during an undercover mission. When she was three, she learned how to climb onto a roof. When she was ten, she went on her first mission to stop a Rose agent from breaking into an orphanage. When she was twelve, she disarmed her first bomb.

Description: Blue eyes, salt and pepper hair, reddish skin, tall.
Abilities: Working with technology, coaching, coding.
Character: Paul is a mild mannered guy who would do anything to protect his daughter. Mostly, he likes to just sit on the side, but when something needs to get done, he’ll be the first in line.
Fact file: Paul grew up on a small farm in Tennessee, however, he always wanted to work with computers. With no way to get a computer in 1968, Paul built his own from old farm equipment and other electronics. He designed his own operating system and even made a few programs that helped farm production.
Parents: Sarah and Simon Lee
